Adnan Sheikh - Interim Clinical Chair, Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Alliance
Adnan is a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon at East Lancashire NHS Trust and has been the Lead for Colorectal Cancer services.
Dr Geraldine Skailes - Executive Chair of the Cancer Alliance and Lead Medical Director for the Provider Collaborative Board
Appointed as a Consultant at the Royal Preston Hospital in 1997 with an interest in treating lung and gynaecological cancers, she continues to work as a Consultant in Oncology.
Neil Smith - Primary Care Director
Neil has been a GP in Blackburn for over 20 years. He has always had a portfolio career and was previously Associate Dean at Manchester Medical School. Neil is currently a partner in a busy practice, a GP appraiser and trainer as well as stadium doctor for Blackburn Rovers.
Melanie Zeiderman - Cancer Alliance Programme Director
Melanie became involved in cancer care in 1997. She was Deputy Programme Director for Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance in 2017
before moving to Lancashire and South Cumbria in February 2020.
Lee Threlfall - Head of Performance
Lee has held a number of performance-related posts in Local Government, Commissioning organisations and secondary care providers.
Amanda Short - Head of Transformation
Amanda joined the Cancer Alliance in July 2019. She started her career on the NHS Graduate Finance Training Scheme 16 years ago where she gained a CIMA qualification.
Lisa Flanagan - Senior Programme Manager – Targeted Lung Health Check (TLHC) Programme
Lisa currently leads the work for the Cancer Alliance with the planning and implementation of the national pilot lung cancer screening programme.
Anne Turner - Targeted Lung Health Check Project Manager
Anne joined the Cancer Alliance team in May 2018 on a year’s secondment from Lancashire Teaching Hospital where she practiced as a senior therapeutic radiographer for over 10 years.
Sarah Hunter – ICS Endoscopy Transformation Programme Manager
Sarah joined the Cancer Alliance in September 2020 to create the ICS Endoscopy Transformation Programme.
Hema Pownall - Senior Programme Manager RDC
Hema joined the Cancer Alliance in June 2021. She has been a Programme Manager for over 12 years.
Jen Burns - Senior Programme Manager
Jen joined Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Alliance as Senior Programme Manager in June 2020 and has over ten years’ experience in a variety of NHS roles.
Lindsey Kelsall - Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Lindsey is an RCN accredited Advanced Nurse Practitioner, specialising in Endoscopy. She is clinical lead for endoscopy services at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
Faye Bennett - Cancer Quality Improvement Lead
Faye joined Lancashire & South Cumbria Cancer Alliance in December 2021 as the Cancer Quality Improvement Lead.
She has worked as a nurse in several acute NHS trusts for almost twenty years.
Deborah Lakeland – Cancer Genomics Project Manager
Deborah has been a Healthcare Scientist for almost 30 years, and has worked in many hospitals in South Wales and North West England.
Claire Ainsworth - Data Information Analyst
Claire joined the team in August 2018. Previous to that, she worked in the Assurance and Delivery Team as a Project Support Officer for 18 months.
Kaye Davies - Senior Project Manager
Kaye has been a project management and service improvement specialist for almost 8 years, and has worked in a variety of public sector settings. This includes local government, education and NHS secondary care.
Margaret Nightingale - PA to the Cancer Alliance
Margaret's main role is to provide administrative business support for the team.
